1st Runner-up in 10km MMU Open

After a long break from running marathons due to shipboard training, I have successfully completed my first 10km Open in Multimedia University (MMU) Malacca Campus' 2017 Roadrunners Anniversary Run which was organised by MMU Roadrunners Club, held on 8th of Jan 2017. It would not have been possible for me to finish the race as first runner-up without any training. I am lucky to have signed off earlier in Oct 2016 from my 2nd ship and start my training by end of November. My timing for 10 km was so far away from my personal best in the beginning but I managed to pull it off to a better timing during the race day even though I did not manage to beat my personal best. I was about to withdraw from the run because I got my foot injured during football training 3 weeks before the run and it did not get any better even with the aid of medication from the specialist. It took a very slow recovery and somehow I ran bearing the pain and losing to only 1 athlete out of 100s is really a good achievement to me since I did not have a proper training before the run. I would like to thank my friends who came all the way from ALAM to cheer for me. This is definitely a good start as I am slowly getting back into form. Right now I am just focusing on the recovery of my foot and joining more runs like this including the road relay during ALAM Sports Month.
