What makes Caesar as a great leader is that he can shed his ego away when he makes any decision. This can be seen when Caesar not only allows the humans to work in his territory but when things get terribly out of control, Caesar allies with humans to stabilize the situation despite the fact that he never trusted humans completely. Keeping the apes community alive is more important to Caesar than his personal feelings towards the humans.
