My Ship Run Aground

Hello to all readers out there. How are you today? I hope that you're all in the pink. Well I got nothing much to say today but as Google always promoted, hell yeah I'm feeling lucky. So as I have mentioned for my title it is about my first training ship which was APL Vanda who ran aground at Bramble Bank, Southampton. Actually during the time the ship ran aground, I already sign off from there but still it is my ship right?

Well for your information, APL Vanda was considered as Ultra Large Container Ship or 14k class ship with LOA of 369.82 metres and extreme breadth 50.08 metres and delivered in 2104 from Hyundai Heavy Industries. Can you possibly imagine how big she was? Well I sail with her for almost 6 months. During my time there, everything was going smooth.

       Ok back to the title, the problem started when the ship was about to arrive to Southampton Port in UK. During their transit at the river, they facing the problem of main engine automatic slowdown. All deck and engine side was so busy because it was a manoeuvring time and everybody had to attend their duty. Actually, before the ship run aground, she already face the same problem at Mediterranean Sea, near to Lisbon waters, Portugal. At that time Chief Engineer was able to rectify the problem. The problem caused the ship to delay from ETA to Hamburg about 5 hours.

During transit the river which everybody knows it is critical moment, the ship lost her main engine and because of that, it ran aground at Brambles Bank. She was coming from France, Le Harve at that time.She ran aground on Saturday night of 16 Feb 2016. It took 8 tugs to free the vessel from the bank and she was safely tow to Southampton Port by afternoon. There are no report about pollution and the crew were all safe

  Lesson learn from here, even tough this a new a ship, you cant expect that everything will run as smooth as silk.In life, you have to expect the unexpected. May peace be upon you guys. Assalamualaikum. Muahh . XOXO
